Can One Starlink Unit Keep You Connected On Mains Power or Off-Grid? It Can Now.

Updated: Sep 18

For anyone unfamiliar, Starlink is a very handy satellite network offering high speed internet around the world.

Our client Rod bought a Starlink kit designed for use with 240V mains power, but he wanted to have the flexibility of using Starlink in both his caravan and while camping in the rooftop tent on his Landcruiser.

The solution?

We supplied and installed RV Wi-Fi's fantastic new 12V upgrade kit for Starlink!

This includes a 12V power unit called a "Dishy Dock" and a dedicated 12V router, aptly named "Dishy Dock Router", of which we customized a mount to keep the units permanently together, making it easy to transfer them from the caravan to the Cruiser.

To plug in Starlink, we installed RV Wi-Fi's external port to the side of the caravan and ran the connection cable from the port, back to where the RV Wi-Fi Dishy system will live.

Where they live, two 12V cig sockets were wired in to plug in both the power supply and router and once the Dishy Dock and router are turned on...bingo!...speedy mobile internet!

And without any modifications to the Starlink system.

When readying for travel in the Cruiser, Rod simply unplugs the cig plugs and one data cable, lifts off The Dishy Dock pair from the Velcro mount, and pops it in the Cruiser.

Australia can be a pretty remote place, and Rod's all set to stay connected no matter where he ends up.
